Confessions of living in the city

7.20.2011
Living in the city has its huge perks. And lows.

1. I love love walking everywhere. It's such a healthy way of life. However, sometimes I miss the 'convenience' of parking 10 feet from my front door and going anywhere fast.

2. Walking around hand in hand around the city is fun and we take full advantage. Sometimes I would love to walk out my front door and not see a single person. (Don't get me wrong I love people but don't harass me for money to moment I walk outside.)

3. No lawn care. Perk-o-delic. No place to put a garden or a pretty plant. Bummer-a-roo.

4. Lazy days in the park. We living between several beautiful parks and we love to lay on a blanket, toss a frisbee, or read a book on any given day.

5. Grocery trips. Usually, I just buy what I need (meat, produce) daily at reading terminal, farmers market, or local grocer. This helps because we consume everything we buy. It also helps me because I'm not juggling 5 grocery bags on my walk home. (I would love a wagon to pull my groceries home.)

6. PPA. We hhhhhaaaatttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeee  strongely dislike the parking authority. Have you watched Parking Wars. They are vicious.

7. Parking in the city is EX PEN SIVE. We opted out of parking conveniently when we decided we'd rather save $250 monthly. We downsized to one vehicle and park in at Ted's work 2 miles away. Since our life (outside of our church) is in the city it works out nicely.

8. Public transportation. Convenient, fast, efficient. Yet, why do men always have to try and get your attention. I listen to music loudly and ignore all these types.

9. I've never felt more safe than I do where we live. Key code locked front door and doorman keep me secure.

10. Since we attend church outside of the city, our friends don't live in the city. This kind of blows. Thankful for our friendships just wish we had some a few blocks away.
