Heat Source

2.04.2011
All the harsh weather drifted away from us in the Northeast this week. By Wednesday, I was awkwardly juggling all the layers that I had pulled off. And I was wondering why I have a sudden urge to go to the chiropractor after lugging around extra baggage. While the rest of the country is stuck in doors with snow pouring into their living rooms, our sidewalks full of snow have had a chance to melt away.

The warm-er weather melted away at the minutes it take getting ready. Or is it I'm finally getting use to the winter chill. Whatever it is, I've been thrown off my normal routine the past few days. It probably has something to do with my frittata FAIL last night, no?

One too many layers of warm clothing and one of those days that nothing seems to go according to plan. Never trust your classmates.. ..especially if their 18. Let's call him Billy. Billy (who has routine weekly brillant ideas) decided it would be a good idea to adjust the level on the salamander when my frittata was browning just perfectly. Unaware of his scheme to sabotage my beautiful frittata I tended to adding cream on top of a shirred egg, finished up a berry compote, and the other important things that I had planned just so. Going back to check on my frittata to find it an inch way from the heat source and turning black. FAIL. Sigh, I frantically worked up an unnecessary sweat making a mini frittata that ended up coming out just as yummy with a few less ingredients.

The hustle of the kitchen with people running around in sensible footwear is intriguing though. Keeping one eye on Billy at all times is essential to success.

Happily approaching a slow weekend. Catch up on some reading, sleeping, and hopes of crafting.

A few ideas that I'd like to give a go: a rose cake, a quilt like this, faux metallic letters, finishing a mini book about our trip to PR.
