Naming our son.

A few weeks after finding out we were pregnant, Ted and I were driving through Bensalm, PA and passed a neighborhood called Wellington Estates. I suggested 'How about Wellington for a boy?' as a kicker but before Ted even answered I scratched it as too long. I typically like four (or five) letter names. Then thinking of a friend, I threw out Wells. We both noted it as a high potential. 

After that night, I began to fall in love with the name Wells. I started reading all the passages of scripture having to do with a well. There are so rich stories about meeting Jesus at the well. Isaac dug wells. So many psalms, songs, and references. A well as a source of living water. So rich, so cool. I really felt like God was naming my son. Weird? But that's how I felt so I knew that Ted would come around to it. Ted wasn't 100% on the name until we found out we were having a boy at our 19 week appointment. (He probably was holding out for Troy Aikman Ohman.. OMG!) On that day, he turned to me and said "I think we should name him Wells." I was so excited. 

We tossed around middle names all the way up to the day he was born. Isaac. Atticus. Elliot. Edison. Theodore. We finally ended with Emerson which was one of the very first names we liked. 

WELLS 

1. To rise or surge from an inner source

2. To pour forth

More than anything, I want to teach Wells that he is a sinner in need of a Savior. I pray that he comes to saving faith and knows the Lord at a young age. I pray that Jesus will be his inner source. I also pray that he will pour out truth to others in his life. 

EMERSON

1. Brave

Emerson means brave. I hope that Wells is brave when it comes to his faith and his life.
